Public Affairs MissionPublic Affairs fulfills the National Guard’s objective to keep the American public informed on its unclassified activities, which includes the need to inform families and employers. Also, public affairs aims to increase public awareness and understanding of the National Guard, its role and transformation.

Media Releases VING graduates 1100 students in territorial Coole School Program 2012-5-1-028 The Virgin Islands National Guard Counterdrug Task Force (CDTF) will host graduation ceremonies on St. Croix and St. Thomas as a culmination of its Coole School program. A total of 18 public schools and four private schools will participate to celebrate the accomplishments of the 1,100 students and 51 teachers from the year-long program. (Read more) 2012-4-30-027 VING Observes Denim Day (Sexual Assault Awareness Month) 2012-4-4-026 VING Family Program Office observes National Volunteer Week 2012-4-3-025 VING Celebrates Month of the Military Child with Easter Extravaganza 2012-5-17-029 Nations around the world hold observances for Armed Forces Day to recognize and honor their military forces and the dedication of their families who serve with them. In the United States, Armed Forces Day is celebrated on the third Saturday in May. The 2012 theme is “United in Purpose - Steadfast in Service” and Armed Forces Day is Saturday May 19.

Community Relations & Outreach Community Relations: “Our Communities, Our Strength” The National Guard’s local, community-based nature gives its members unique interagency cooperation skills.
